ABSTRACT
The term Prakriti is the inherent balance of the three Dosha at the moment of foetus creation. The Prakriti or person’s constitution actually means original creation. The nature of a person’s constitution is one of the fundamental things in understanding Ayurveda. Prakrititha Pareeksha is one among Dashavidha Pareekshas, which helps in giving knowledge about physical and mental characteristic features of the patient. This is a single sitting observational study on 120 Madhumeha (Diabetes mellitus type 2) patients using Sushrutha Prakriti Inventory Check- List (SPI-C) Part-2 for physical characteristics of Prakriti assessment, where observation and collection of data was undertaken using 60 questions. This article throws light on the Guna’s and the reasons influencing each physical characteristic feature of Prakriti available in different Ayurvedic treatises. On evaluation of frequencies on complete data it was found maximum Madhumeha Rogis were of Pitta Prakriti and least number of Madhumeha Rogis were of Vata Prakriti.
