ABSTRACT
The present study was aimed to find out the anti-diabetic property of the 70% alcoholic extract of Tephorsia villosa herb in various In-vitro anti-diabetic models like Non-enzymatic glycosylation of hemoglobin, Glucose uptake in yeast cell, Inhibition of alpha-amylase and Glucose adsorption method, the results revels that plant extract exhibited the inhibition of glycosylation in dose dependent manner, in glucose uptake in yeast cell plant extract increases the glucose uptake rate with increase in concentration and also inhibited the alpha amylase enzyme which plays the major role in carbohydrate metabolism and also increases the glucose adsorption in dose dependent manner which indicates that plant extract shows the significant anti-diabetic property
however these findings need to be confirmed in in-vivo models and clinical trials for its effective utilization as therapeutic agent.
Keywords: Tephorsia villosa, In-vitro, Glycosylation of hemoglobin, Yeast cell, Alpha amylase and glucose adsorption.
