AN OVERVIEW ON DIABETES AND ITS MANAGEMENT

ABSTRACT
Diabetes is a metabolic disorder that affects the quality of life; it was a disease existing from the past history. Diabetes mellitus is one of the foremost common endocrine disorders that affect nearly 6 % of the world's population. By 2025 the number of diabetic patients will reach up to 300 million. Over 97% of these patients will have type II diabetes. Prediabetic or diabetic symptoms include hyperglycemia, increased frequency of urination, thirst, fatigue. Though the main culprit in diabetes is impaired glucose metabolism, it majorly depends on Insulin levels in the body. Diabetes opens a wide research area. In this present review will discuss from the basics of diabetes including the importance of auto antibodies like GAD65, Cytokine-elicited apoptosis, impaired autophagy that causes dysfunctional mitochondria, which inturn causes accumulation of reactive element species (ROS) in both types of diabetes, Annual follow up test to be focused on diabetic patients, new class of drugs, different therapies like stem cell therapy, antioxidant therapy, anti-inflammatory treatment, dietary management with their advantages in the treatment of diabetes along with treatment algorthims. This review will provide information to plan research on diabetes.
