REVIEW ON ANTICANCER AND ANTIMICROBIAL ACTIVITIES OF MUSHROOMS

ABSTRACT
Mushrooms one of the most important source for natural compounds that have been used for treatment purpose. A few mushrooms have been studied well for their nutritional and medicinal properties such as Agaricus blazei, Lentinus edodes, Ganoderma lucidum, Pleurotus ostreatus, Schizophyllum commune, Trametes versicolor, Phellinus linteus, Grifola frondosa, Flammulina velutipes, Cordeceps sinensis, Trametes gibbose. These mushrooms possess a wide range of bioactive compounds which give their pharmacological activities such as antioxidant, antimicrobial, anticancer, anti-inflammatory, antidiabetic, anti-Alzheimer, hepatoprotecive, immunomodulatory and hypocholesterolemic activities. The purpose of the following review is to pointed anticancer and antimicrobial activities of mushrooms.
