ABSTRACT
The present investigation was carried out on development and characterization of naproxen microspheres using sodium alginate and HPMC K15 as polymers. FTIR results were shown good compatibility between drug and excipient. Micrometric property of microspheres was found to be good. The percentage yield of microsphere formulation F1-F9 was in range of 60.5 to 98.5. The swelling index of microspheres formulation F1-F9 was in range of 1.12-1.50. From the dissolution data it was observed that the optimized formulation F9 followed zero order release, regression value was found to be 0.922 and drug released by diffusion as regression in Higuch’s plot was 0.995.the prepared and optimized formulation kept under stability studies for 3 months, there is no degradation in optimized formulation.
Keywords: Sodium alginate, HPMC K15, Higuch’s plot.
