ABSTRACT
The present study the tested plant extract of Erythrina variegata was demonstrated anti diarrheal and antispasmodic effects by significant reducing intestinal motility rate. In the intestinal motility test, the charcoal meal travelled is 40.57 ± 0.31% of the total mean length of the small intestine on the control mice on treatment with 200mg/kg of plant extracts significantly reduced the charcoal meal transit in a dose related manner (30.57 ± 1.04 alcoholic and 36.95 ± 0.62 aqueous extracts) the effect was comparable to that of std. drug atropine (36.0.8±0.56. In the anthalmintic activity the warms paralyzed at the concentration of 40.50mg/ml in both extracts, (33±0.5 and 36±0.0) then the std. drug piperazine citrate (36±0.5).
