“DISEASES EMERGING DURING GESTATION AND TREATMENT ADAPTED”

ABSTRACT
Introduction: Pregnancy is a sequence of events that begins with fertilization, proceeds to implantation, embryonic development, and fetal development, and normally ends with birth about 38 weeks later, or 40 weeks after the last menstrual period. Some women experience health problems during pregnancy. These complications can involve the mother's health, the fetus's health, or both. These problems may make the pregnancy a high-risk pregnancy. Objectives: To study the diseases emerging during gestation and their treatment adapted. Methodology: This was a Prospective and Observational study. Results: Among 77 Patients, 38 were seen in the age group of 21-30 years (49.35%) and 36 patients were in the age group of 31-40 years (46.75%). The maximum number of patients with emerged disease were seen in third trimester. Majority of patients were having GDM which makes GDM the most emerged disease during pregnancy. Metformin and insulin was the most prescribed hypoglycemic agent for GDM. Among 77 patients, 2 patients faced ectopic pregnancy as the complication of pregnancy. Conclusion: Diseases can emerge in any trimesters depending on each patient’s lifestyle and diet. GDM, Hypothyroidism, PIH, Anemia, Thrombocytopenia and UTI were the most common diseases that was found emerging during pregnancy. Metformin was the most commonly used antidiabetic drug for GDM which is the most safe drug in pregnant women. Treatment options should be taken appropriately such that, not only to control the disease but also to avoid the complications during pregnancy and maintain a good quality of life for both mother and fetus.
