UNDERSTANDING THE CONCEPT OF VARNYADASHEMANI IN AYURVEDA – A REVIEW

ABSTRACT

Varna is attributed to colour or complexion. The colour, appearance and texture of the skin is known as complexion. Varnya is useful for imparting colour “Varnyadashemani” is a group of ten drugs described together, also known as complexion promoters, targeted to impart Varna. Vaivarnya (change in complexion) is been mentioned only by Charaka. No detailed description of this is available, but at various places, it is mentioned as a premonitory symptom or as a symptom or as a complication. The knowledge about the concept is very essential for the application of it in the practical field so that Varnyadashemani review has been taken.
