A REVIEW ON GLUCOSAMINE SULPHATE FOR TREATMENT OF OSTEOARTHRITIS OF KNEE

ABSTRACT

The treatment used in treatment of Osteoarthritis (OA), is effective only for a short time and gives acute relieve. Glucosamine sulphate is the drug which has shown & protentional structure modification effect in Osteoarthritis (OA). Osteoarthritis (OA) is a degenerative disease, characterized by cartilage loss and inflammation of synovial membrane. Clinical studies have shown that administration of micro nutrients is effective in reduction of the OA symptoms. OA of knee is one of the main reasons for the decline of the knee mobility. Till date Glucosamine is the only drug which has shown good therapeutic effect on OA when taken 1500mg daily.
