Munda Kumar Jitendra* and Nirmal Satrupa

ABSTRACT

Plants are the exclusive source of the drugs for the treatment of the many diseases. Acharya Charaka classified the herbs into 50 groups of herbs, Mahakashya (dravya with similar action). Each groups included 10 herbs according to their selective action, so 50 *10 = 500 total herbs. Out of these 50 Mahakashaya, Arshoghna Mahakashaya is the 12th number of Mahakashaya described in chapter 4th shadvirechnashatashriya adhyaya of sutra sthana for the management of Arsha roga (haemorrhoid). Arshoghana Mahakashaya contain 10 drugs which are effective in relieving pain and symptoms of Arsha when used either in single or in formulations.
