A CASE REPORT OF GIANT UTERINE LEIOMYOMA

ABSTRACT
Uterine fibroid is a benign disease, very common in women of childbearing age. It’s the first cause of hysterectomy in women before menopause. This article is a report of a giant uterine leiomyoma (approximately 27×26 cm). The subject was a 43-year-old premenopausal multiparous woman presented with a history of an abdominal distension weight gain difficulties in walking and tiredness the last 11 months. Abdominal examination revealed a large mass extended above the umbilicus, Sonographic and MRI scan confirmed a large solid mass approximately 27×26 ×21cm in size that filled the abdomen. Definitive diagnosis is histological after surgical treatment. In short, patients might have no symptoms or might be unaware of the presence of a large uterine leiomyoma; however, large leiomyomas have various unusual symptoms in addition to the common ones. These symptoms should not be disregarded or underestimated.
