G. N. Rameshaiah* and Manasa A.

ABSTRACT

The plastics bottles are used widely for the storage of the mineral water, soft drinks. The use and throw of these plastic bottles pollutes the environment very badly, according to the survey of the national geographic kids only one bottle is recycled out of every six plastic bottles, hence there is a need to end for the plastic bottles and need to use the biodegradable, eco-friendly packing materials for the liquids. To replace the plastic water bottle, an edible water blob was created, it is a new technology of the liquid packaging that can be consumable or chewable. The edible water bubble is a sack of water like a blob, which is made up of the biodegradable ingredients, which is friendlier to the environment that can set an end to the plastics. The edible water bubble is prepared by using two main components calcium source and the sodium alginate by the process of spherification, the frozen liquid is dumped into the two separate solution of the calcium source and the sodium alginate, Gelification takes place, which forms the membrane that holds the liquid inside the membrane. The final packaging is biodegradable and simple.
