ABSTRACT
Cyclodextrin has a feature that lies in its ring structure and the ability to enclose its guests into the cavity of cyclodextrin. In the inclusion complex, the drug molecules as guests are trapped in the cyclodextrin cavity which is hydrophobic. The outer part of the cyclodextrin is hydrophilic so that it dissolves easily in water. The formation of drug complexes with β-cyclodextrin or its derivatives is known as inclusion complexes so that they can be widely used in the pharmaceutical field (for example: increasing solubility, dissolution efficiency, bioavailability, physicochemical stability, masking bitter taste, and as a coating).
Keywords: ?-cyclodextrin, ? -cyclodextrin derivatives, pharmaceutical uses.
