UNDERSTANDING OF “YUVANPIDIKA” AND ITS MAMAGEMENT THROUGH AYURVEDA

ABSTRACT
Healthy skin is a reflection of our internal health and balance; it plays an important role in our wholistic wellness. In modern era, one side where people are spending much time and money for the flawless beauty. On the other hand hectic life schedule, improper diet, more exposure to pollution and chemicals, use of excessive cosmetics, etc prevailing the many dermatological problem day by day. Acne is one of the common disease among skin problems. Acne vulgaris is inflammatory and non-inflammatory condition of skin caused by over
activity of oily glands during adolescence. It not only ruins the beauty but also has psycho-social impact on the patients life. In ayurvedic literature it has been explained by the name “YUVANPIDIKA” or “MUKHDUSHIKA” under the Kshudra roga. As per the different ayurvedic text Yuvanpidika is characterized by “Shalmali kantaka” like painful eruption on the facial skin during the yauvan avastha. It is kapha-vata-rakta janya tridoshaj vyadhi. Acharya given its chikitsa in two ways i.e. Shamana and Shodhana. Vamana, siraveda, nasya are some panchkarma Shodhan procedure. External lepa, internal herbal medicinal comes under Shaman chikitsa. The present article is an attempt to highlighting the details of Yuvanpidika as per ayurvedic text with the co-relating with Acne vulgaris.
