ABSTRACT
Back ground: Acute coronary syndrome represents a major health care burden worldwide. The acute coronary syndrome categorized into Unstable Angina (UA), Non ST segment elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI) and ST segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) have been rapidly evolving in recent years. Major complaints are chest pain and shortness of breath. Objectives: To assess the severity of pain by using pain assessment scale before and after administration of Nitrates. To assess safety by using CDSCO form and using causality severity assessment scale by WHO guidelines. Materials and Methods: A prospective observational study was
conducted in the Santhiram college & general hospital, Nandyal from July 2019 to November 2019, to assess the severity of pain by using pain assessment scale before and after administration of Nitrates in patients of Acute Coronary Syndrome by using case sheets, prescriptions in tertiary care teaching hospital Study design: A total of 150 patients are being assessed the therapeutic outcomes and safety of nitrates. Where 90 are males and 60 are females. Numerical pain scale is used to assess the severity of pain before and after administration of Nitrates. Results: In our study observed that before administration of nitrates there is severe pain in more no patients of 41-60 age group in males. In females 51-70 age group of people shows severe pain. In males 61-70 age group of people shows worst possible pain compared to females. After administration of nitrates there is no pain in 41-70 age group of people in males. In females there is no pain in more no of patients in the age group of 51-70. Conclusion: In our study we conclude that out of 150 cases Nitrates are more effective in the treatment of chest pain, shows better efficacy to relieve chest pain in Acute Coronary Syndrome patients. Nitrates shows better safety profile by Optimal Medical Therapy. Acute Coronary Syndrome and its sequelae are leading causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Glyceryl Trinitrate is among the most commonly used drugs in the treatment of ACS.
