ABSTRACT
Many scientific studies prove that diet plays an indispensable role in the management of Diabetes mellitus. Glycaemic index determines the actual impact of these foods on the blood sugar level. Fiber rich diet is one of the approaches in the management of Glycaemic index. To assess the effect of fiber rich diets and optimizing its amount, a study was conducted, under which three diets viz. control diet (no fiber), low fiber diet (5 gm fiber), high fiber diet (10 gm fiber) were given to Control group, Experimental group 1, Experimental group 2 respectively. Data were recorded after three months supplementation and statistically analyzed. The statistical analysis showed clearly that
Glycaemic index did not significantly vary in both the test diets. It is concluded that fiber is not only the component responsible for Glycaemic index determination.
