Abstract
FUCHS UVEITIS SYNDROME: BETTER TO MATCH THAN CONTRAST!
Divya Swamyraj*
ABSTRACT
Fuchs uveitis syndrome or Heterochromic iridocyclitis (FHI) is non granulomatous anterior uveitis syndrome. Hallmark feature being Heterochromia which can be preceded by iris atrophy and can be very subtle in dark iris. It also has other features such as stellate Keratic precipitates, iris nodules, Cataract mostly posterior subcapsular, rubeosis iridis and associated with secondary glaucoma, vitritis and chorioretinal scar. FHI iprevalence is higher but the entire entity is under diagnosed as patients usually don’t have the usual symptoms
such as pain watering and photophobia which leads to the delay in diagnosis. Glaucoma being the vision threatening and challenging complication of this syndrome, it should be diagnosed early and the progression should be monitored.
