ABSTRACT
Quality control is a most important aspect of Ayurvedic Formulation to fulfill the need of the consumer but it is must whenever we discuss about the ayurvedic formulation as it is concerns with the life of patient. For Ayurvedic preparation like Asava, Arishta, Ghutika, Vati. needs quality control and quality assurance before use. The whole purpose of these quality control tests is to confirm “Purity”, “Quality”, “Efficacy” and “Safety in Use” of Ayurvedic herbal formulation. All these parameters of testing are having same important for any ayurvedic product. One of the major lacunas in popularization of plant-based polyherbal drugs is the inconsistent quality of the formulated preparations. The assurance of the quality is achieved through the
analysis of drug product throughout the manufacturing process to its shelf life period. By applying the systematic and scientific process which will give predefined objectives and emphasizes rather than the testing of quality after the development of process, will be better in concern to save the time and maintain the quality of product throughout the batches at that time term Quality by Design come into existence. In this review, method for chromatographic separation by markers in ayurvedic marketed formulation is develop by using HPTLC (High Performance Thin Layer Chromatography).
