SIGNIFICANCE OF BAHYA SNEHAN IN DINACHARYA

ABSTRACT
Ayurveda is holistic science. It suggests simple lifestyle routines for a healthy and disease free life. One of the daily routine mentioned in Ayurveda classics is Abhyanga. Abhyanga has been considered as important part of the external Snehana. The Ayurvedic practice of Abhyanga is deeply nourishing practice that is easy to incorporate into daily or weekly routine, the benefits are tremendous: softer skin, lubricated joints (less popping and crackling), increased alertness, deeper sleep and overall sense of calm. The skin is largest organ of body, and being the seat of air element i.e Vata Dosha, Abhyanga is marvelous way to feed it, both for the maintenance of health as well as prevention of disease. Present study deals with the review of various aspects of Abhyanga, its benefits scripted in classics of Ayurveda.
