P’CEUTICAL ORAL FORMULATION: LOZENGES (FOR COLD & FLU)

ABSTRACT
Lozenges are oral solid dosage forms which have many advantages over other dosage form. Lozenges are solid preparations that contain one or more medicament usually in sweetened base, flavour that are intended to slowly dissolution or disintegration in oral cavity or mouth. They are used for medications designed to be released slowly to yield a constant level of drug in the oral cavity or to bathe the throat tissues in a solution of the drug. Common cold and flu are common disease which infects the throat and Respiratory tract. Lozenges are meant to
be easily dissolved in mouth for its local effects. Study aim in oral formulation of Polyhebral lozenges using ayurvedic plant extract and considering the significance of patient compliance and market competition with modern dosage form. This review article is involving types of lozenges, excipient used, herbal extract used, evaluation study, Marketed formulation etc.
