ABSTRACT
The dermal delivery of in-deformable liposome in-chitosan hydrogel system for an advance wound dressing by using curcumin and chitosan as an active substance was put forward for the better chronic wound therapy. Curcumin is believed to be the most potent substance as an anti-oxidant agent as well as anti-inflammatory agent and so called as multi targeting substance. Due to its high level of hydrophobicity its quite difficult to deliver in its actual therapeutic amount. And so, they are prepared by encapsulating it into the liposome. The deformable liposomes also provide a barrier which protects the wound from being more infected deeper into the tissues. The drug encapsulated or incorporated within the liposomes increases the drug concentration at the site of action that is locally as compared to systemic concentration.
The combination with hydrogel elicits the moist wound healing and also provide good fluid absorbance. The chitosan-based hydrogels are considered as ideal materials for enhancing the wound healing process by their biodegradable, biocompatible, non-toxic, antimicrobial effects. Chitosan also serves drug delivery system by adding more active substances which shows the promising results for various kind of wounds.
