A REVIEW ON HERBAL MEDICINE: ANNONA SQUAMOSA AND IT’S PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTIVITY

ABSTRACT
Annona squamosa is a medicinal plant which has been used in treatment and wellbeing of human mankind from ancient times. Custard apple belonging to the family Annonaceae is a evergreen, multipurpose tree with edible fruits. Various parts of custard apple such as fruits, leaves, seeds and barks have been used to treat many aliments. It is related to contain alkaloids, diterpenes, acetogenins, cyclic peptides and fixed oils. Annona squamosa is used as an antioxidant, antifungal antitumour activity, anti inflammatory and analgesic, antidiabetics, antibacterial, antiviral, antifertility, Larvicidal, hepatoprotective and wound healing activity. The purpose of this review is to provide current understanding of important pharmacological properties of Annona squamosa and applying it to pharmaceutical and agricultural domains.
