Clinical features of rheumatoid arthritis ranges from mild inflammation to complete degenerative changes of joint, depending upon its type and severity. Symptoms of Amavata are identical to that of rheumatoid arthritis. Though, amavata is mentioned to be as kashtasadhya vyadhi, by following the chikitsa protocol of Amavata mentioned in ayurved classic, we can manage this condition. A 53 year old male patient came to OPD of panchkarma department with complaint of multiple joint pain, stiffness and swelling since four months. Patient was treated with Vaitaran basti for 30 days along with oral ayurvedic medicine and external application of ahinsradi upanah. These modalities help in amapachan, vatashaman and srotasshodhan. Criteria for assessment in this study work are -pain scale (VAS), stiffness scale (VAS), swelling measurement and Walking time. Marked improvement was observed in the sign and symptoms after treatment. No any complication was found during the treatment.
