SYNTHESIS AND DERIVATIZATION OF SOME 2-BENZYL-6-(SUBSTITUTED PHENYL) IMIDAZO [2, 1-b] [1, 3,4] THIADIAZOLES

ABSTRACT
Imidazole family certainly belong to the most important, significant and abundant five membered heterocycles, which are constituent of a variety of natural and synthetic products.1,3,4-thiadiazole derivatives have established significant in different pharmacologically active synthetic compounds. 1,3,4 thiadiazole have pharmacological properties such as antitubercular, antimicrobial, antifungal, anticonvulsant, analgesic, anti-inflammatory, diuretic. Present work is synthesis 1,3,4-thiadiazole nucleus based compounds such as Imidazo[2,1-b][1,3,4]thiadiazole and their derivatives. The compounds were synthesized in multistep reaction with more efficient process starting from substituted benzoic acid as key starting material. Structural elucidation of synthesized compounds was done by using various analytical techniques like IR, NMR.
