MANAGEMENT OF KARNANADA WITH SARJIKAKSHARA TAILA KARNAPOORANA AND DASHAMOOLA GHRITA AS RASAYANA-A SINGLE CASE STUDY

ABSTRACT
Introduction: Tinnitus is a symptom characterized by perception of sound in absence of external stimuli. It is most annoying symptom interfering with the day to day activities of an individual. Karnanada is the disease mentioned in Ayurveda for this condition. It is caused due to abnormal movement of Vata dosha in Shabdapatha resulting in perception of various sounds in ear. Materials & Methods: A 43 years old female patient complaining of the ringing sound in both ears was selected from SJIIM hospital Bengaluru for the study, with no other accompanying disorders. Sarjikakshara Taila Karnapoorana was done in 2 sittings along with Dashamoola Ghrita orally as Rasayana. Result: There was complete reduction of symptom in the patient. Discussion: The Sarjikakshara taila Karnapoorana removes the Sangathva of Kapha and normalizes the pathway of Vata. Internal intake of Dashamoola ghrita helps in nourishment of Indriya. Conclusion: The study showed promising results hence Sarjikakshara taila Karnapoorana and Dashamoola ghrita Rasayana can be given in the management of Karnanada.
