The Skin is the largest organ in the body, making up of 16% of body weight. It protects the body from external factors and keeps the internal organs intact.[1] The diseases affecting this layer can be treated using both systemic and locally. Malahara is one such formulation that is being practiced in Ayurveda, used externally where the local action is required. Dadru Vidravana Malahara is a formulation that is quoted in the ayurvedic classical text of Rasatarangini. In this study, the formulation is modified and prepared to make the preparation more acceptable and increase the bioavailability by keeping its therapeutical activity intact. The prayojya anga or therapeutically active form of the drug is the basic idea behind this modification in the pharmaceutical preparation of the Dadru Vidravana Malahara. The preparation is done
using Siktha taila, Chakramarda, laksha, Shoditha Gandhaka and Shuddha tankana. The final product obtained was smooth fine paste form compared to the classical preparation. This study is intended for the improved drug acceptance, bioavailability and therapeutic utility by maintaining same potency.
