ENDOCRINOLOGY AND DIABETES MELLITUS: WHAT’S NEW IN IT?

ABSTRACT

INTRODUCTION: In the recent past there are lot of scientific happenings around the endocrinology and diabetes segment. The prevalence of endocrinology disorders i.e diabetes is rapidly rising all over the globe at an alarming rate. MATERIALS AND METHODS: In the last six months, search of data base like pubmed, cochraine and the google scholar & web search with the key words like “diabetesâ€Â, “endocrinologyâ€Â, “Adrenalâ€Â, “hypertensionâ€Â, “obeseâ€Â would aid in understanding the current happenings in the endocrinology and diabetes segment. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: The present study gives a scientific glimpse about the recent scientific trends in the endocrinology and diabetes segment. The few highlights are the long awaited guideline on hypertension in relaxing the treatment therapy in the diabetes, Bisphosphonates raise the incidence of fractures as they are the current and most commonly used drug for osteoporosis and DDP IV inhibitors doesn’t raise the cardiovascular mortality
