ABSTRACT
The present study was aimed at to identify the functional groups present in the methanol extract of the leaf of Brassaiopsis bodinieri by using Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) method. The FTIR spectroscopic method being a technique used to obtain an infrared spectrum which revealed the phytochemical profiles containing overlapping signals from a wide array of the compounds with various functional groups. The present finding showed the presence of various functional groups such as carboxylic acid, hydroxy compounds, fatty acids, lipids, proteins, carbonyl, amide, aromatic
compound, phenol, amine, siloxane and alkene with their characteristic wave number at the FTIR spectrum. The result of the present work highlighted that the plant B. bodinieri possessed pharmaceutical importance for treating various diseases of human kind.
