ROLE OF NITYA VIRECHANA AND RASAYANA (SHAMAN) CHIKITSA IN THE MANAGEMENT OF VICHARCHIKA WITH SPECIAL RESPECT TO ECZEMA: A CASE STUDY

ABSTRACT
Background: Eczema is a specific type of allergic cutaneous manifestation, which is characterized by superficial inflammatory oedema of epidermis associated with vesicle formation, itching redness. According to its clinical features, it can be correlated with eczema. The prevalence of eczema in 56 countries found to vary between 3&20.5%. It was the commonest dermatosis in children registered to a paediatric dermatology clinic where it constituted 28.46% of all registered patients. Many treatment modalities have been adopted in medical sciences, but it has quite expensive and various side effects. Hence it is necessary to find out an economical remedy to treat Eczema. Objectives: The objective of the study was to
study the efficacy of Nitya virechana and Rasayan (Shaman) Chikitsa in the management of Vicharchika with special reference to Eczema. Methods & Materials: A Single case study, a 62 years old man was already diagnosed with eczema before 4 years. Symptoms such as itching, burning sensation, dryness with scaling of skin scanty eruption at lesion site, so for that he was advised for Nitya virechana and Rasayan Chikitsa. Result: After 11/2 months symptomatic assessment of patient carried out and there was satisfactory outcome. Quality of life of patient was significantly improved. Conclusion: Nitya virechana and Rasayan Chikitsa brought about satisfactory relief in symptoms in patient with Vicharchika.
