PHARMACEUTICO-ANALYTICAL STUDY OF SINDHURADHYA TAILA AND ITS MODIFIED OINTMENT FORM

ABSTRACT

Sindhuradhya taila is herbo-mineral formulation prepared by using Haridra, Arka, Shuddha Tuttha and Shuddha Girisindhura, used externally in the management of Pama, Vicharchika, Kandu etc. For practical applicability and to bring them to consumers compliance, easy to apply and to prolong the contact time between drug and affected skin modification of the formulation was necessary, an attempt was made to convert the Sindhuradya taila into Ointment form. Sindhuradhya Taila Ointment was prepared by using Emulsifying wax, White soft paraffin and Liquid paraffin as ointment base. The physical parameter of both Taila and its ointment form was within the IP normal limits. The consistency, colour and homogenicity of Sindhuradhya Taila Ointment kept in room temperature were maintained and did not undergo any physical changes up to 5 months.
