Abstract

TYPE 3C DIABETES (PANCREOPRIVIC DIABETES) ACCOMPANYING TYPE 2 DIABETES MELLITUS

Vikashini Subramani*, Adona James, Greena C. George and Haja Shereif

ABSTRACT

Type 3c Diabetes Mellitus is a category of diabetes that prevails secondary to pancreatic dysfunction which is often misclassified either as T1DM or predominantly as T2DM. T3cDM leads to micro vascular rather than macro vascular complications analogous to other forms of diabetes. There is an urgent call for evolving proper guidelines and management for T3cDM. This report describes the case of an adult male who was diagnosed as T3cDM along with diabetic neuropathy as its complication alongside a previous diagnosis of T2DM.

Keywords: Type 3c Diabetes Mellitus, Pancreatogenic Diabetes, Chronic Pancreatitis, Diabetes Mellitus, Pancreatic Exocrine Insufficiency.
