DEVELOPMENT AND VALIDATION OF UV SPECTROPHOTOMETRIC METHODS FOR ESTIMATION OF CEFUROXIME AXETIL AND LINEZOLID IN COMBINED DOSAGE FORM

ABSTRACT
The present work deals with simple spectrophotometric method development for simultaneous estimation of Cefuroxime axetil and Linezolid in bulk and in two component tablet formulation. The methods developed were first derivative spectroscopy method and area under curve method. Methanol was used as solvent throughout the analysis. Regression analysis of beers plot showed good correlation in the range of 5-30 μg/ml for Cefuroxime as well as for Linezolid. The recovery studies confirmed accuracy of proposed method and low values of standard deviation confirmed precision of method. The method is validated as per ICH guidelines. The proposed method was
successfully applied for determination of these drugs in formulation.
