A COMPARITIVE PHARMACEUTICO-ANALYTICAL AND CLINICAL OBSERVATIONAL STUDY OF TRIVRIT LEHYA AND ITS MODIFICATION VATIKA W.S.R TO VIRECHANA IN NORMAL ADULTS

ABSTRACT
Back ground - Trivrit Lehya is a common medicine which is used for virechana mainly in elderly people. Also it is used as a medicine of choice in healthy individuals to do seasonal shodhana. The main ingredient of this is Trivrit, which is a Sukha Virechaka drug. And available form is in lehya which feels difficulty in administration because of its nauseating feeling, dose fixation, disagreeable taste and odour and its short shelf life paved the way to think of a new form with the same ingredients. Apart from all this trivrit lehya contains sweetening agents, which obstruct it’s usage in diabetic patients. Among the dosage forms, Vati kalpana, with advantages of easy administration, dose management and higher shelf life is selected for the present study. “Trivrit Vatika” with the same ingredients of Trivrit lehya has been prepared, by excluding the sweetening agents viz Sugar
& Honey. Objective-The present study is taken up to prepare both the samples of Trivrit Lehya and Trivrit Vatika and compare them both analytically and clinically among selected healthy volunteers, opting for Sadhyo Virechana. Methodology - In the present study Trivrit lehya, a classical medicine is prepared in accordance with Charaka Samhitha. And the preparation of Trivrit Vatika by making slight modifications are selected. Result - The modification of Trivrit Lehyam into Vatika has shown satisfactory results in all aspects of the study.
