Abstract

A COMPARATIVE PHARMACEUTICO-ANALYTICAL STUDY OF VIMALA BHASMA PREPARED BY CLASSICAL PUTA METHOD AND ELECTRICAL HORIZONTAL MUFFLE FURNACE

Dr. Shweta S. Nayak*

ABSTRACT

Vimala is one among the Maharasas with its clinical indications as Rasayana, in the form of Bhasmas, though it is not commonly available in the market. It has given very much importance in both Dhatuvada and Dehavada. Vimala Bhasma is prepared by Classical Putapaka method. With the technological advancement in the current scenario, Electrical Horizontal Muffle Furnace is used for the preparation of Bhasmas. To save the manual labor, prevention of pollution, bulk production and ultimately for the better result, the modern devices are the need of the time. So the present trial was selected for comparative pharmaceutical study and to see the analytical changes in vimala when subjected to various analytical procedures before and after Marana. Materials and Methods: Vimala, Haratala, Gandhaka selected as per grahya lakshana and subjected to Shodhana. In the preparation of Vimala Bhasma (Classical), Haratala & Gandhaka are mixed with Vimala. Bhavana with Jambeera swarasa for 3times should be done and Subjected to Gajaputa. Vimala bhasma (EHMF) is prepared by adopting the temperature duration and methodology as that of the Vimala Bhasma (Classical). Analytical study: Analytical study of Vimala Bhasma (Classical), Vimala Bhasma (EHMF) was carried out with classical and modern parameters. Results: Yield of Vimala Bhasma (Classical) is 63.6% and Vimala Bhasma (EHMF) is 70%. It was also characterized by using modern instrumental analysis like XRD, EDX SEM and particle analysis. Conclusion-In the present entitled study, Vimala Bhasma(EHMF) is found to be Pharmaceutically very convenient to prepare and Shows good Analytical results compare to Vimala Bhasma (Classical).

Keywords: Grahya Vimala, vimal bhasma, Gajaputa, Electrical Horizontal Muffle Furnace, XRD SEM-EDX, NPST.
