ABSTRACT
Kanakabindvarishta is a polyherbal fermented medicine of Ayurveda. It was first described in Charaka Samhita in the context of Kushtharoga. In the reference, the ratio to prepare the kwatha of khadira and which sweetening agent should be used is not mentioned. Hence Sharangdhar’s general principle was followed. The study was planned to check the role of Dhataki puspa as fermentive agent in Arista preparation. Efforts were made to find the most efficient container to prepare kanakabindvarishta pharmaceutically. Organoleptic and Physico-chemical analysis like color, taste, smell, pH value, presence of methanol, alcohol content, sugars etc were carried out. Fermentation started on 7th day and took 31 days to complete. The
yield in Sample I, II and III was 80.55%, 88.39% and 88.18% respectively. Use of Khadir wood to make the wooden container (Sample I) may be responsible for attaining it’s higher concentration. In wooden container, 100% concentration of microbes give 71% of zone of inhibition for P. aeruginosa & 70% in E. coli, which is highest amongst all. The cost of wooden container is average and pocket friendly.
