REVIEW ARTICLE ON TRANSDERMAL DRUG DELIVERY SYSTEM OF ANTI-HISTAMINE AGENT: BILASTINE

ABSTRACT Innovations in Novel drug delivery systems such as Transdermal drug delivery system have made important contributions to medical practice and treatment of diseases and disorders by providing advances in the delivery of treatment with existing and novel drugs. The rate and extent of drug release and route of drug administration are vital parameters of any formulation. As transdermal delivery has more advantages over other routes of administration, such as providing immediate and prolonged and stable drug levels, and less frequent dosing is required. It also has the ability to interrupt treatment by removing the patch. Transdermal drug delivery of Bilastine, which is antihistamine drug. Transdermal drug delivery system helps to avoid different gastrointestinal incompatibility, poor bioavailability and first-pass metabolism. Bilastine was approved in India by The Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) in feb 2019.
