Abstract

A REVIEW ARTICLE ON FAST DISSOLVING ORAL FILM TECHNOLOGY

Pradnya Sapkal*, Dr. Ganesh Deshmukh, Adiksha Mishra, Rashmi Kate and Sanjana Patil

ABSTRACT

The oral route is one of the most preferred routes for the administration of medications due to the low cost and ease of administration; therefore, it increases patient compliance. In recent decades, there has been a growing interest in the innovative drug delivery system to improve patient safety, efficacy and compliance, thereby increasing the life cycle of product patents. In recent years, many of the pharmaceutical groups have focused their research on rapid dissolution technology. Rapidly dissolving oral administration systems are solid dosage forms, which disintegrate or dissolve in 1 minute when placed in the mouth without drinking water or chewing due to greater flexibility and comfort, and improve the effectiveness of active pharmaceutical ingredients. Rapidly dissolving films generally consist of plasticized hydrocolloids or mixtures that disintegrate or dissolve rapidly in the tongue or in the oral cavity. It can be done from what can be laminated by solvent casting or hot extrusion.

Keywords: Fast Dissolving Oral Films, Low Dose, High Permeability, Hydrophilic polymers, Better Patient Compliance.
