ABSTRACT
Supcapsular liver hematoma (SLH) is a rare complication but potentially life-threatening condition, usually occurring in patients with preeclampsia and HELLP syndrome. The clinical presentation of SLH is non specific and the biological findings are delayed. The diagnosis is made easily and quicker by ultrasound and abdominal scan. The management of SLH depends on the timing of diagnosis, during pre or post partum, hemodynamic stability of the patient, the tear or not of Glisson’ capsule of the liver. Before the delivery, it is advisable to treat surgically the SLH during the caesarien intervention. During post partum, conservative management can be considered before hemodynamically stable patient and non-ruptured hematomas and followed up by ultrasound and abdominal scan. We report 2 cases of pregnant women with preeclampsia complicated by subcapsular liver
hematoma suspected before vomiting and epigastric pain and confirmed on ultrasound.
