MODELING THE ROLE OF CLINICAL PHARMACIST: A CASE REPORT ON STASIS ECZEMA

ABSTRACT
Stasis eczema also known as venous, grativational or varicose eczema, is a long term skin condition that affects the lower legs. It’s common in people with varicose vein. The affected skin becomes itchy, red swollen, dry and flaky, scaly or crusty. Left untreated, leg ulcer can develop. These are long lasting wounds that form where the skin has become damaged. The study narrates A 61 year old male patient who has a known case of varicose vein on his right lower leg which was operated 5 years back visited the Government General Hospital with chief complaints of severe itching, raised lesions, oozing lesions and photosensitivity over the both legs for past 6 months. Patient had not known case of DM/HTN/TB/epilepsy. The patient was counseled in regard to drugs, disease and lifestyle modifications to improve the quality of life. The patient was treated with Dexamethasone, Ranitidine, Cephelexin, Cetrizine, KCl syrup, CPM and Calcium supplements. The current case report also focuses on role of clinical pharmacist in validating the safety, efficacy of drugs and to improve the quality of life.
