EFFECT OF NIRUHA BASTI IN PURISHA VEGAVARODH JANYA KOSHTABADDHATA: SINGLE CASE STUDY

ABSTRACT
Mala or waste product is an important constituent of human body. Purisha is the kitta bhaga of aahar rasa and has its urge daily to evacuate out. Habitual constipation is a condition where the frequency of passing stool is less than 3 times per week due to decreased motility of colon. In this case, patient was habituated to not passing stool when the purish vega was present. The habit was being continued for a longer time period right from his student life and it resulted him sufferer of chronic habitual constipation in his adulthood. From Ayurvedic point of view, it was clear enough that he was suffering from Purisha Vegavarodh janya Kostabaddhata. Eranda mooladi Niruha Basti was administrated for days along with Anuvasana basti of
Mahanarayan taila in prescribed schedule. Total duration of our study was 60 days. Significant result was seen in stool, abdominal and rectal symptoms. Niruha basti was found effective in habitual constipation in this case study.
