Abstract

SYNTHESIS, CHARACTERIZATION AND BIOLOGICAL ACTIVITIES OF SOME NOVEL SUBSTITUTED PHENYTOIN DERIVATIVES

Sai Gnaneswari Aluri*, Dr. R. Govindarajan and Dr. S. Udayavani

ABSTRACT

Now a day, one of the most important areas of research is to be designing of new compounds to deal with the resistance. Phenytoin is a versatile compound which consists of hydantoin basic nucleus that exhibits a variety of biological activities. From the review of literature, complete exploitation of molecule has not been explored on the phenytoin drug. In view of this, synthesis of some novel phenytoin derivatives by targeting the carbonyl group and exploring their potential in-vitro biological and pharmacological actions in comparison with respective standards would be of great significance. Present work dealt with synthesis of phenytoin derivatives as per designed schemes to explore anti-oxidant and anti-arthritic active compounds, still draw continuous interest in molecular manipulations of active moieties with ensure to obtain drugs of high potency with low toxicity. The synthesized compounds are characterized by using melting point, TLC, IR, NMR- Spectroscopy and Mass Spectroscopy.

Keywords: Phenytoin, anti-oxidant activity and anti-arthritic activity.
