Abstract

ROLE OF AYURVEDA IN MANAGEMENT OF VICHARCHIKA: A CASE STUDY

ABSTRACT

Ayurveda is a life of science. According to Ayurveda any type of skin disease is included under the heading of Kushta. Kushta is of two types. First is Mahakushta and other is Kshudrakushta. Mahakushta is further divided into 7 subtypes where ksudrakushta is of 11 types. Vicharchika is a type of ksudrakushta which having symptoms of sakanduta (itching), pidika, shyavata (discolouration), bahustrava (discharge). It appearance look likes eczema in modern science. It characteristic as Redness, swelling, papules, vesicles, exudation, cracking, scaling. Vicharchika can be well treated with the help of Ayurvedic medicine and Panchakarma procedure. The present case study is a successful ayurvedic management of a case of vicharchika (eczema). Here is a case report of a 70 years female having with complaint of Ubhay hasta pradeshi twakasphutan, twakadaran, kandu, daha, jalstrava since 6 months. She was treated with ayurvedic drugs and panchakarma procedures gaves effective result in treating with Ayurveda. A remarkable improvement in the condition was observed in a span of 30 days.
