REVIEW OF MEDOPACHAKA YOGA IN MEDOPRADOSHAJA VIKARA W.S.R TO ITS KARMUKATWA

ABSTRACT
Amongst the seven Dhatus, mentioned in Ayurvedic texts, Medodhatu is the fourth one. Medodhatu is a precursor of Asthi dhatu. Charakacharya (Jwarachikitsa adhyaya- Chikitsa sthana) has mentioned the Medopachaka yoga for all the dhatugata Jwara. Medopachaka yoga consists of Kiratatikta, Amruta, Chandan, Vishwabhaishaja. Medodhatvagni is a prominent factor that controls the fat metabolism. If the Medodhatvagni gets disturbed, it leads to pathological manifestations like Prameha and symptoms which are mentioned in Purvarupa of Prameha, Sthaulya. As per Ayurvedic principles, Vrikka is formed by the essence of Medodhatu and Raktdhatu. Hence; the drugs like Medopachaka yoga acting on
Medodhatu are equally effective against the disorders of Vrikka. Due to the Tikta, Katu Kashaya rasa & Laghu, Ruksha, Tikshana guna it specially acts on Medodhatu which helps to improve Medodhatwagni. This study will emphasize the efficacy of Medopachaka yoga in Medopradoshaja Vikara.
