ABSTRACT
Mixture of three quasi-subspecies of SARS-CoV-2 is in circulation in India, the Indian Council of Medical Research decided that these imported variants showed no differences from how they behaved in the place of origin. Pandemic is upon the world and corona virus is not the last word. Ebola, Zika, Nipah, SARS, MERS, H1N1 and now COVID-19 — the viral onslaughts will continue. Mutations of known viruses will periodically cause havoc, whatever be the reasons. While the Zika virus is spread by Aides mosquitoes, the main reason for these viral infections seems to be the proximity and contact with animals
including wild animals, either as exotic food menu or the use of animal parts as aphrodisiacs. The disease is caused by a novel severe acute respiratory syndrome corona virus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), occurred in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China. Since 31 December 2019 and as of 10 August 2020, 23,96,637 confirmed cases of SARS-COVID-2 infection have been reported, and 47033 Death have been reported globally. Seafood has also been stated to be a cause for the Wuhan outbreak. The World Health Organization declared the COVID-19 outbreak a pandemic. This paper analyses the structure of the virus, severity of the disease, community transmission and economical status of India. The study reported that the human dimensions of the COVID-19 pandemic reach far beyond the critical health response. All aspects of our future will be affected — economic, social and developmental. Our response must be urgent, coordinated and on a global scale, and should immediately deliver help to those most in need.
