ABSTRACT
The thyroid undergoes many physiological changes during pregnancy. The functional activity of the gland is increased with a 50% increase in the production of thyroid hormones. These thyroid hormones play an important role from the early stages of the brain in humans, during the first trimester the fetus is dependent on this maternal hormone production.
