AN OBSERVATIONAL STUDY OF ACNE VULGARIS IN TEENAGERS AT AL-SADAR CITY, BAGHDAD

ABSTRACT
Objective: To evaluate the association of acne vulgaris frequency among high school students at Al-Sadar City in Baghdad. Methods: This is a prospective study that was performed for the duration from 1st February to 30th April 2018. A handy sample of 747 secondary school students, including 365 males and 382 females, was taken from four secondary schools in separate areas of Baghdad, Al-Sadar City. Their ages varied from 16 to 18 years. Results: The incidence of acne was (68.3 per cent) with a higher occurrence in Males (73.2 per cent) compared to females (63.6 per cent) in this study reported. The largest
incidence was observed in males at the age of 18 years and females at the age of 16 years. In a current study, the Acne incidence were (72.2%) with positive family records. Conclusion: In this observational study, the incidence of facial acne was higher in high school students aged 16-18 years, males had a higher rate of incidence than females. Ultimately, family background is a contributing factor for acne vulgaris.
