ABSTRACT
IN now days advance in nanotechnology has lead to the development of targeted drug delivery system. However, targeting a drug molecule to a particular site using a drug delivery system effectively requires a specialized drug delivery system. Nanosponges are part of target drug delivery system. In advance research nanosponges has become a significant step in overcoming certain problems such as drug toxicity, poor bioavailability and release of drug in a predictable manner. Nanosponges can accommodate both hydrophilic and hydrophobic. Nanosponges are tiny sponges that can circulate in the body to reach the specific site and binds on the surface to release the drug in a controlled and predictable fashion. Nanosponges were prepared by emulsion diffusion technique. Nanosponges are highly porous having unique ability to entrap active moieties. nanosponges are non-toxic and steady at excessive temperature 300◦C. Nanosponges technology has been explored widely for the delivery of drugs for oral, topical, parenteral admistration. Nanosponges are non-mutagenic and non-allergic. Nanosponges are used in increase the solubility of glipizide drug. Glipizide is an oral, rapid, short acting and second generation sulfonylurea anti diabetic drug. It is used for treatment of type-II diabetes mellitus. Its BCS(Biopharmaceutical classification system) Class-II drug. Glipizide is poorly water soluble drug, due to poor solubility of drug, its bioavalibility rate is limited by drug dissolution.
