Purnima Rao* and Jitendra Kumar

ABSTRACT

In today’s era children’s exposure to media technology starts when they are in the uterus of their mother. Electronic media like mobile phone, television etc and Social media like Watsapp, Facebook etc have both beneficial and adverse effects. In intrauterine period if mother use these media for mental relaxation, in knowing precautions taken while pregnancy etc then it may be beneficial but if, she uses these media continuously for long time along with watching violent contents and placing electronic gadgets close to the body then, it may result in the development of ADHD and sometimes cancer in the child after birth. These media are beneficial for children for learning rhymes, alphabets, in completing their assignments, being in touch with distant friends and relatives etc. But if children use these media continuously for long time then it may result in the development of Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS), delayed speech, obesity, aggressive behavior, precocious puberty etc. These adverse effects can be prevented by proper education to children about these media, placing these gadgets away from the body and avoiding its continuous use. Ayurveda provides the best lifestyle for the human beings which not only prevent different diseases but used in the management of many disease. Dincharya (Daily regime), Achar Rasayan, Yoga etc are very helpful in preventing and curing adverse effect of media technology.
