Abstract

RANDOMIZED CONTROL CLINICAL TRIAL OF JALAUKA- AVCHARNA AND VAT- PATRADI LEPA IN THE MANAGMENT OF YUVAAN- PIDIKA W.S.R TO ACNE VULGARIS

ABSTRACT

Acne vulgaris is a chronic inflammatory disease of pilo-sebaceous glands characterized by pus containing nodules and cysts which ultimately results in scar formation. Though it is not life threatening condition but the complications of Yuvaan pidika affects the 70-80% adolescence emotionally and cosmetically due to scarring and hyper-pigmentation. In this study total 90 patients were registered in 3 groups; each group is having 30 patients. 11 Patients were dropped out though 79 Patients were completed the trial. Selected Drug, Group A Jalaukavacharana and Panchnimba churna 3gm BD with Luke warm water, Group B Vatpatradi lepa ΒΌ th thick of finger apply on face OD and Panchnimba churana 3gm BD with Luke warm water, Group C Tretinoin cream (0.025%) apply on lesion once in night and tablet elemental zinc 50 mg 1 tablet BD. Duration of study was 60 days with additional 30 days follow-up. Duration of every observation was 15 days. The objective parameters- in comedones, papules and pustules result was highly significant. In nodules result was significant. In cyst and scar the result was insignificant, in all three groups. In subjective parameters of all three groups result was highly significant. After follow up it has to be known, 40% patients of group-A has recurrence with disease. 36% of patient of group-B has recurrence the disease. 79.37% patient of group-C has recurrence the disease. The conclusion of this research is that there are total three drug groups can be prescribe in Mukhdushika (acne vulgaris) to highly significant result but disease recurrence rate of Group-B are less in comparison of all three drug groups. Though all the groups has shown statically significant on acne but on the basis of percentage improve it can be calculated that group B is better than group A& C, while group A is better than group C. It is also observed that recurrence rate of disease in group B is also found lesser than rest of two groups.
