AYUEVEDIC MANAGEMENT OF PURE RED CELL APLASIA (PRCA) WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO PANDUROGA THROUGH RAKTABASTI: A CASE STUDY

ABSTRACT
Purpose: Pure red cell aplasia (PRCA) is a rare disorder occurs due to failure of erythropoiesis It is characterized by normocytic, normochromic anemia, associated with reticulocytopenia in the peripheral blood and absent or infrequent erythroblasts in the bone marrow. There are no specific signs associated with PRCA. Method: A 61 years old female patient known case of Pure red cell aplasia (PRCA) came in opd of Kayachikitsa with the complaints of giddiness, general weakness, dysnea on exertion since 7 months, swelling all over body and blackish spots all over body since 1 year. She was treated by
oncologist for 6 months. inspite of repeatedly blood transfusion she didn’t got any relief. So for she decided to took Ayurveda treatment and came in OPD of kayachikitsa GACH Nagpur and admitted. In Ayurveda PRCA can be correlated with Pandu. Treatment principle is Tikshna Adha Anuloman i.e Virechan(~purgative therapy), Raktabasti, Anuwasan basti. Here we treated case of PRCA with Ayurveda management. We treated with Tikshna Adha Anuloman i.e Virechan(~purgative therapy), Raktabasti, Anuwasan basti along with oral Ayurvedic medication. Result: Significantly increase in haemoglobin count was observed after treatment. Significant improvement in subjective parameters also found. Conclusion: However, because rarity of this disease, it can never be evaluated in large controlled clinical trials. As a result, the majority of recommendations on the basis of retrospective trials or anecdotal case reports. Here we treated case of PRCA with Ayurveda management.
